The whole liturgical life of the Church, revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the Sacraments. These are seven Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony.(CCC 1113)
The purpose of the Sacraments is to sanctify men, to build up the Body of Christ and, finally, to give worship to God. Because they are signs, they also instruct. They not only presuppose faith, but by words and objects they also nourish, strengthen, and express it. That is why they are called, Sacraments of faith. (CCC 1123)
Sacrament of Baptism / Sacramento del Bautismo
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."(CCC - 1213)
El santo Bautismo es el fundamento de toda la vida cristiana, el pórtico de la vida en el espíritu ("vitae spiritualis ianua") y la puerta que abre el acceso a los otros sacramentos. Por el Bautismo somos liberados del pecado y regenerados como hijos de Dios, llegamos a ser miembros de Cristo y somos incorporados a la Iglesia y hechos partícipes de su misión. ("El bautismo es el sacramento del nuevo nacimiento por el agua y la palabra", (CCC - 1213)
Baptism are celebrated / Los Bautismos son celebrados:
For children up to 6 years old / Para niños(as) hasta los 6 años:
First Saturday of the month in Spanish.
Primer Sábado del Mes en Español.
Last Saturday of the month in English.
Ultimo Sábado del mes en Inglés.
At: 11:00 A.M.
If your child is 7 years or older call the office.
Si su niño(a) tiene 7 años o mas llame a la oficina.
Requirements for Baptism in our Church.
Requisitos para Bautismo en nuestra Iglesia.
For children 6 years old or younger/ Para niños (as) hasta los 6 años.
1 - Parents must be registered members of the parish for at least 3 months or must be coming to Mass every week for at least 3 months.
Los padres deben estar inscritos en la parroquia o asistir a misa, todas las semanas por lo menos por tres meses.
2 - One or more than one god–parents are required for the celebration of the Sacrament. if you pick two it most be a male and a female. They must be Catholics in good standing, who have received the
Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation. If they are married, it must be by the Catholic Church.
Se requiere un padrino-(madrina) o mas de uno para la celebración del Sacramento. Si escoje 2 padrinos deben de ser una hembra y un varon. Ellos deben ser Católicos y que hayan recibido los Sacramentos de Iniciacion. Si están casados, debe de ser por la iglesia Católica.
3 - Parents must fill out and sign the form. “ Request for Baptism”
Los padres tienen que llenar la hoja. “Petición para Bautismo”.
4 - Parents and the child are presented to the community before the Baptism
Los Padres y el niño(a) son presentados a la comunidad antes del Bautismo.
5 - Parents and godparents must take the pre-Baptismal class. If the godparents are taking the class in another parish, they must bring a letter verifying that they took the class and they qualify to be godparents for Baptism.
Pafres y padrinos tienen que tomar la clase bautismal. Si los padrinos van a tomar la clase en otra parroquia, tienen que traer una carta donde indique que tomaron la clase y que califican para ser padrino de bautizo.
6 - To Pick the date for the Baptisms, parents must fill out the form requesting for Baptism and bring it with the birth certificate of the child and a donation of $35 to the office at 3860 Pleasant Hill Rd.3 weeks before the Baptism.
Para escojer la fecha de Bautismo, los padres tienen que traer el formulario petición para bautismo, el certificado de nacimiento del niño(a) y la ofrenda de $35 dólares, a la oficina: 3860 Pleasant Hill Rd. 3 semanas antes del Bautismo.
7 - If there is an urgent need to baptized a child or adult, please call the office.
Si hay una emergencia para Bautizar a un niño o adulto, llame a la oficina.
Those who need the class to be godparents at another church should call the office. The offering is $10.00 per letter.
Los que necesitan tomar la clase para bautizar en otra parroquia, llamen a la officina. La ofrenda es de $10 por carta.

How do I know if God is calling me to the priesthood?
A. Today, many people look to the future and ask: "What do I want to do with my life?" The proper question is: "God, what do you want me to do with my life for you?" To know if you are being called, you must have a prayerful relationship with God, since God is the one who calls us to a specific vocation. Often, when someone senses that God is calling them to the priesthood, there is a negative reaction. This is normal, but do not think that it means you are not meant to be priest. Very often, it is a positive indicator!
Q. What qualities are looked for in a priest?
A. A desire to serve others - love for the Church - deep faith - man of prayer - leadership ability - one who relates well with people - and one who is a builder of the community.
What do I do if I think I am being called to the priesthood?
A. Speak to people you trust and get their feedback. You may also wish to speak to your pastor or any other priest you know. Most of all, speak with the vocations director of the diocese, because he can answer many of your questions.
Q. Do I have to know for sure that I want to be a priest to enter the seminary?
A. No There are two levels of seminary formation, college and theology. In both cases, seminary is not only a place of education and formation, it is also a place for continued prayer and discernment.
Q. What is the process for entering the seminary?
A. There is first an application process for the diocese. Once the student is accepted by the diocese, then there is another application process for the seminary.
